More light

The clocks have gone forward for summer time in the UK and many of us are still wondering how on earth we can remember how to change the clock on the cooker.

Every day in the Northern hemisphere it is going to be lighter for longer until the Summer Solstice and then the days shorten again.

Life can be like that if we allow it, light and darker days, depending on our mindset and reactions.

There is another choice, allow light to be there even when the days are dark. We all have a light inside us and a place of peace and calm that we can access by being present in the moment that is now and away from the dark thoughts that the mind can produce.

Stillness can be there no matter how light or dark your days are. Over time, more light comes every day whether it is summer or not.

Sanitised

Increasingly our world is becoming sanitised, not just from nasty bugs, but from what collectively the activists in society are deeming to be unsuitable and those who really hold power.

Unsuitable is subjective and the danger of sanitising speech, views, interests, words, food and the list goes on, it is subject very often to a narrow lens of perspective aimed at all by a few, who we currently have no control over or are even aware of.

Peer pressure then completes the job. We live in fear of being inappropriate, of offending, of even putting the rubbish in the wrong coloured bin.

Yet we live in the most disconnected, addiction filled, depressed state that the human race has ever been in, sure we live longer (so we are told) and yes we all have a supposedly higher standard of living than ever. Yet we live in a dark time for community, connection, love, empathy, kindness, care of our fellow human, we live with hatred, war, genocide, oppression, racism, mental health issues, homelessness, destruction of our environment with the decimation of nearly all other living species.

We care more about whether we can say ‘blind’ or ‘visually impaired’ than the far more greater causes for concern. That does not mean we do not care what we say and how we are towards others, we can always choose to be kind over being unpleasant. But let us be sanitising the right things like the abuse of the world by giant corporations, by politicians, by excessively wealthy individuals (like 26 people who have the same wealth as 3.8 billion poorest people) and the other things already mentioned.

Perhaps the agenda of those who really run the world is to distract us with the minutia and the trivial so as we do not look too closely at them and what they do. If we are all fighting each other, over the unimportant mainly, from our hate-filled bubbles, usually behind the safety of the ether and screen, then how is it possible to focus on what is really happening?

We do not need any more sanitising we need more curiosity, more questioning and less acceptance of every broadcast from the system. George Orwell accurately predicted our world in his book ‘1984’, who would have believed we’d actually allow it to happen.

We need to shine our collective light onto the world and bring about a change from what we have, we need to bring peace, love, kindness, empathy, compassion and our collective humanity together.
