What is trust?

It’s interesting that we all see ourselves as totally trustworthy people and get very hurt if someone doesn’t trust us.

Yet we have a picture of who we trust and don’t trust based on the filters of our mind.

That in itself isn’t trust. Trust is universal and something we have to be prepared to do first. When trust isn’t present there is no connection.

Trust is connection and connection with other human souls is critical. Trust is not a ‘nice to have’ thing. It is essential to understanding and communication.

We also can extend that further to start from a position where we trust the other is acting from good intentions and is doing the best they can at this present moment.

Trust is humanity.

What if…?

What if we choose to ask a question first instead of telling someone what we think?

What if we choose to understand them first?

What if we helped them to be seen first?

What if we choose to say to ourselves that I don’t know what they are feeling or thinking?

What if we choose to listen without preparing our answer?

What if we didn’t respond from our point of view?

What if we accepted that their feelings were theirs and that we wouldn’t question that?

What if we were taught to be curious and to know how to listen?

What if we knew how to help others to be seen?

Maybe we could choose to try.

My guess is we would learn to listen, speak and act from our hearts. That love would replace fear and we would all become more connected.
