Our reactions to the external world

How do we choose to react inside to the external world?

Well, we can accept and surrender to what is. Build no resistance or negativity to the current situation. That is an inner acceptance that does not necessarily mean we agree or like the situation we just choose not to fight it internally. We do not have to actualise this externally through actions or words. We just choose to stay calm inside.

Another option is to remove ourselves from the situation. To flee.

There is one more choice, the one that most of us seem to opt for most of the time, continue suffering from our reactions to situations. By resisting what we cannot control and is already.

We can not control the external world outside of us, therefore, when we resist what is, and put up a fight in terms of how the mind and body reacts, then that activates pain and suffering within. It is all negative energy from our thoughts, reactions and emotions.

Surrendering to what is allows us to be free of that resistant mindset and enables us to act out of intelligence and from a position of liberation and peace.

Inner peace comes from choosing to no longer suffer and remove any barriers and resistance to the external world. It is a choice we can all make and we can make it now.

Consciousness and vulnerability

I’m a huge Brene Brown fan, I love her work on shame, vulnerability, showing up and living a wholehearted life. I have just watched her Netflix show, if you get a chance then well worth an hour and have a tissue or two at the ready, as vulnerability is tough but worth it.

I have written many blogs on the subject around bravery, vulnerability and how showing up requires them both. Vulnerability is the opposite of weakness. Watching Brene today, I realised that there is one other factor to vulnerability, it is only possible if, like everything we do, we do it when we are conscious and in this present moment. We cannot be vulnerable in the past or in the future, we have to always be it now.

Otherwise, the moment you go into the mind, the mind will sabotage and put up the vulnerability shields to protect its ego. It will do everything to stop us exposing the real us.

Our inner spiritual essence is vulnerable, loving, and full of joy, the only way to show up is to be in the moment and conscious, to be authentically us. Our light that we show to others is there because we stayed conscious and showed up, we were willing to be vulnerable.
