Confused

In countries where food is not plentiful, life is more simple, they have less of most things and people often sit in a group of friends or family and perhaps pray or say something to express their gratitude for what they have and what they are about to eat.

In other parts of the world, where food is plentiful and very often wasted, where people often sit alone to eat, the only thing that happens is people take a photo of their food and post it on Instagram for others to like. Then return to their smartphones and eat, not just consuming food but consuming yet more data.

We’re confused in our thinking that having everything equates to happiness. The people who have the least tend to have the most gratitude and joy in life and those that have it all are often unfulfilled.

A few nanoseconds

So the earth is 4.5 something billion years old, well so we are told, none of us actually know that, but anyway, humans appeared 200,000 years ago, again so we are told. So if you condensed the time that earth has existed into one day, then we’d appear at 23.59 and 57 seconds, so just 3 seconds of that day have we been here! Mind you, we’ve certainly not hung about, we’ve done a lot in those 3 seconds, sadly most of it not so good, to be honest.

Taking it a step further, if each of us lived to say 100 years old, we’d only represent about 100,000 nanoseconds, and if you think that 100,000 nanoseconds sound like a lot, there are a billion in just one second.

The point is we’re not here very long. Enjoy the moment, don’t think, do stuff that matters, enjoy, love, laugh, smile, dance, sing, paint…and just be, be the real you. Oh and don’t give a shit, you haven’t got time to be bothered, angry, frustrated, envious, jealous, hateful and so on.

A few nanoseconds will be gone in less than a blink of an eye.
