The first step

One step on the path and then another, that is all it takes, the steps, one at a time. Nothing else, pure focus.

If we focus on that, and that alone, then we are present in the doing of taking the steps and the mind is silent. We put all our energies into now, this moment, real life.

If we focus on the destination, then that is the future, and that involves the mind projecting into the uncertainty of that mind-created fantasy that is the future. Then comes the psychological fear and then that creates the feeling of unease, risk, uncertainty and the ego feels fragile. The mind then does everything to protect the ego, which usually means not setting off down a path. It means no action, just more thought, more fear and so on.

Paths are there in life to any destination that your soul feels to choose, it only takes a step to start, but the mind will stop you if you focus on anything other than taking the first step now.

One step now and enjoy it

One step, after another, after another…one step at a time, that is how we can walk the path if we choose to. The path is there light up for us to walk on, we deep down instinctively know it is the path to take, but the mind fears the journey and where it leads, so we choose to stay put. We allow the thought of an uncertain future, which of course is fantasy, to dictate our action now.

If we just take one step and focus on that, then a 2nd and focus on that…that is how the habit forms to walk the path and then there is no longer fear as we are not projecting forward to the outcome, the destination, we are simply enjoying taking one step now.
