To find what brings us lasting joy in our soul, versus the ‘normal’ pursuit of short-term happiness hits of instant-gratification, takes time and patience.
It also takes sacrificing the short-term happiness hits and building a practice of being present in this moment as often as possible.
This moment is where we find sustainable joy.
If it is easy there is no value.
However, easy is appealing, we are tempted by the easy, as it gives us an immediate hit.
Value takes patience and sacrifice, we have to give up on the immediate hits to get it.
Every high or hit has a corresponding low. Something valuable brings us joy that is long lasting.
