Small steps now

The struggles on the surface of our unconscious mind-controlled life of past and future are not real. Most humans for most of their existence spend their time trapped within a mind-made self, a story, created by thought. None of this thought is our actual real life that is this conscious moment, the moment that is forever now.

Yet, through our conditioning, we believe this unconscious state is real and normal.

It is in fact, insanity.

When we are fully conscious and awake, aware fully of our surroundings, our inner energy, our own breathing, our own connectedness with all that is, then the mind state dissolves, thought leaves. In this state, we do not allow our emotions and reactions to control us, we do not allow our thoughts to be energised and to be taken seriously.

We are then not likely to have hate, anger, jealousy, judgement, addictions, highs and lows, and we are likely to be still, silent and at peace.

Once we start on this path towards inner peace, then it is the beginning of the end of suffering and pain that is the mind-state. However, like all things, we have to be prepared to sacrifice, to commit to a spiritual practice, to unlearn our conditioning and to accept what is.

Small steps taken now is the path to inner peace.

Within us

To enjoy silence within, and the peace and joy that comes from that stillness, the exterior environment can be noisy or quiet. It is our interior environment that matters.

The silence within comes from a state in which there is no thought or long gaps between thought.

Thought is often stimulated by distractions such as the internet, social media, and other things that are often instant-gratification style attention magnets. The ones that give us a quick fix of chemicals to make us feel momentary ‘happiness’.

However, like all highs, there is always a corresponding low – the yin and yang of the superficial mind related state.

If we choose not to have these distractions and when thoughts occur we simply witness them as the silent observer, then they do not become energised and they fade and dissolve.

Inner silence can then come within us, even in the noisiest place and that is as important as air, light, food and any other things that nourish our soul.
