Reflections in a river

Reflections in a river – by Philip Dodson

The sky clears
Lights twinkle in the city
The traffic creeps by
The people rush to
Who knows where

The people don’t notice
Stuck in their heads
Thinking about their world
What’s happening outside

They do not notice
Not seeing the passing river
Not noticing that it’s all
Just reflections in a river

Then we breathe

Sometimes there is only silence
It’s dark
It’s cold
There is still
The moon shines

We sit alone
We observe
We wait
We see
We hear

The inhale of breath
The exhale follows
There’s the gap
Between the exhale
And the new breath

There in the gap
There is life
There is the moment
There is the connection with all
There is the universe

Silence is life
The stillness teaches
The moment unfolds
Without sound
Then we breathe
