It is an old phrase, but a very true one.

What we put out to the world is what we will get back.

If we want more kindness, be more kind.

If we want more love, then we need to be more loving.

If we want anything, we have to be the ones to give.

The moment we expect things from others is the moment that we are focusing on controlling others and not on ourselves.

The only thing we can control is what we do.

Don’t do as I do, do as your told.

In life we often expect others to do things, that we are not prepared to do ourselves.

Don’t do as I do, do as your told. This sentiment is a perfect summary of that.

It is important to be the example to others of what you want to see.

The thing to be maybe consider is, trying to control others is a futile exercise, and therefore, it is better to focus entirely on our own behaviour. Then perhaps that will inspire others to want to be like that too. However, that is none of our business, other people’s behaviour is their business.

After all, right or wrong is all opinion.

I think that is better to do what you feel is right and skip the telling others, as I reckon no one likes to be told.
